“Kojo In Your Community” comes to Silver Spring!

“Kojo In Your Community” comes to Silver Spring!

Kojo Nmamdi’s special show, “Kojo In Your Community” will be in the Silver Spring Civic Building at Veterans Plaza on Tuesday, September 21st. Doors open at 5:45 p.m.; show begins promptly at 6:15 p.m. Official web-site from the show:

This is a golden opportunity for our community to come celebrate, discuss, and engage in yet another innovative and constructive forum. You can even suggest topics ahead of time… As Kojo’s website says:

“What topics are heating up on your neighborhood blogs and listservs? Suggest a show-topic or a possible location for Kojo In Your Community by emailing us at kojoinyourcommunity@wamu.org”

It would be great if for this show we could bring together Silver Spring’s traditional civic engagement activists with others in the community that do not always come to participate in our established civic infrastructure.

If you are reading this blog, you are probably one of the folks that are ‘in the know’ and understand ‘how this civic stuff works’… Please consider inviting to the show others in your neighborhood, workplace, or house of worship that may not be as involved as you… {Maybe even consider inviting someone you don’t know!}

Our human capital in Silver Spring is indeed great. I am convinced that as active and engaged as we are, we have barely scratched the surface of this rich resource in our own community. For every person that comes to a traditional meeting, town hall, or political forum, there are literally hundreds of others that have equally vested interests and tremendous amount of energy to contribute. Yet for a variety of reasons some choose not to participate…

Let’s extend a sincere invite to these folks; let’s welcome them into our dialogue…

Invite them to come enjoy and participate with Kojo!... {And, hopefully, they’ll plug into our traditional civic engagement venues – and/or we in turn will join them in their non-traditional venues (whatever those may be)!}

c/u next Tuesday at the Civic Building for “Kojo In Your Community”!

{don’t forget to become a ‘follower’ of this blog so you can get future postings.}
