NATIONAL BOOK FESTIVAL
Come to the 12th annual Library of Congress National Book Festival on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama are honorary chairs for the event.
The festival is free and open to the public.
This year's festival will feature authors, poets and illustrators in several pavilions, including two Sunday-only pavilions: Science Fiction, Fantasy & Graphic Novels and Special Programs. Festival-goers can meet and hear firsthand from their favorite poets and authors, get books signed, hear special entertainment, have photos taken with storybook characters and participate in a variety of activities.

A whole day of workshops and an evening concert with extraordinary musicians from 12 diverse genres.
Team-taught workshops at beginning/intermediate and intermediate/advanced levels will explore how rhythms, melodies, harmonies, and improvisation vary between traditions, with topics such as Jamming Techniques; Ornaments in Ireland and Greece; Aunt Rhody Visits Beijing, Stockholm, and Lima; and The Chordal World of Arabic Maqam for Guitar Players. Fiddlers, violinists, violists, guitarists, cellists, bassists, singers, percussionists, harmonica players and listeners -- all are welcome! (You must be at least 7 years old and be able to play the equivalent of the Minuets in Suzuki Book One.)
