MAJOR "SAVE THE DATES" (version 1.4)

On any given weekend, there is lots going on in the Silver Spring Regional Area. However, there are certain major events that merit making sure we put on our 'community events list' to make sure we attend and/or consider them when making plans for other events.... {All events listed are free, except certain fund-raisers, which are noted with an asterik (*)}... Here's the still evolving list:

  Saturday, May 11th - Gandhi Brigade Youth Media Festival (throughout downtown Silver Spring)

 Sunday, May 19th - Telemundo Dia de la Familia at Veterans Plaza

 Sunday, May 19th - Celebrate Takoma Festival at Takoma-Piney Branch Neighborhood Park

 Sunday, June 2nd - Taste the World in Fenton Village (southern part of CBD)

 Friday, June 7th - NCCF Fund Raiser (Civic Building)*

 Saturday, June 8th - Pyramid Atlantic "Fashion Show" Fund Raiser (Fillmore)*

 Sunday, June 9th - Takoma Park Jazz Festival

 Saturday, June 15th - Silver Spring Blues Festival throughout downtown Silver Spring

 Saturday, June 29th - Ethiopian Sports Federation Celebration on Veterans Plaza & Civic Building

 Sunday, July 28th - Festival de Las Americas on Veterans Plaza

 Sat/Sun August 10th -11th - Fest Africa on Veterans Plaza

 Saturday, September 7th - Silver Spring Jazz Festival on Veterans Plaza

 Sunday, September 8th - Takoma Park Folk Festival

 Thursday, September 12th – County Executive Hispanic Gala - The Fillmore*

 Saturday, September 21st - Pan African Festival on Veterans Plaza

 end of September (exact date tba) - South Silver Spring Street Festival on Kennett St

 Sunday, October 6th - Takoma Park Street Festival

 Saturday, November 16th - Thanksgiving Parade (morning) throughout downtown

 Saturday, November 16th - Salvador Sister Cities Event (evening) Civic Building*
