Surfing in Silver Spring: Key Web Links

A couple of weeks ago we created a posting that highlighted the key blogs that most pertain to creating community in Silver Spring and provide access to information related to that broad topic. Now it is time to venture into the ever-changing landscape of web-links that do the same.

Obviously, no list can be complete; and, all lists are biased by whomever created them... Nonetheless, here we go!

Pyramid Atlantic Art Center will celebrate its 30th birthday with an Open House on April 9th from 2-5 pm. The festivities will include artist demonstrations, studio tours, exhibits, live music, hands on arts activities, door prizes, art raffles AND, of course, cake & ice cream!

Open House at Pyramid Atlantic, 8230 Georgia Ave, Silver Spring MD

“Artists from all over the world, youth from our area schools, families from the Greater DC Metro Area, thousands of people come through our doors each year,” said Executive Director, Jose Dominguez. ”We are grateful to be here and to serve so many, in such different ways.”

“We are so excited that artists -- teachers, residents, and interns -- who have been involved with the organization over the years, will be joining us again on this special day,” said Artistic Director Gretchen Schermerhorn.

Long known as an art gallery and papermaking, printmaking, and book arts studios, Pyramid Atlantic serves emerging and mid-career artists from around the world. Our Arts Education Programs bring low-cost and no-cost arts education to people of all ages, regardless of financial barriers. Community Engagement programs create opportunities for the public to engage with the art of papermaking, and print-making, as well as experience the best in the books arts through our Book Arts Fair. In addition, we encourage the diverse talents of our community via live performance in the gallery and at our retail store, ArtSpring.
